Physics Fundamentals for 8th and 9th Graders

This is an Introduction of Physics to Middle and High School Students (8/9th graders). The course will cover the basic concepts introduced in Physics: Mechanics, including Newton’s 3 laws of motion, waves, optics, and electromagnetism, and an introduction to quantum mechanics. Throughout the entry level introduction course, students learn to apply the concepts from the reading and lessons to the Physical world around them, and further develop interest and passion in learning more about Physics or AP Physics in high school.

The format and structure of the course is designed for students to gain experience as independent, self-motivated learners as they learn content from lessons and reinforce their understanding of the concepts through activities, quizzes, laboratories, and exams.

Instructor:  Dr. Frank Lu is an experienced teacher with PhD in Physics & Artificial Intelligence. He received degrees from Fudan University, University of Maryland, and Duke University. Dr. Lu tutored and taught college students at UMBC (MD), and American University (DC). He also tutored and taught students from TJ, Oakton, Langley high school,  as well as other private schools. His students received excellent scores in SAT Physics (700 – 800) and AP Physics (5). Some of Dr. Lu’s AP/SAT Physics students got admitted to top schools, include Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Chicago, UVA, Swarthmore, Duke, Notre Dame Univ, and U. of Penn for 2020 classes. Congratulations to the students and families!
