NEW *Sunday Advanced Reading/Writing for 9/10th Graders. The class covers required SAT reading list to better prepare students for PSAT, SAT, or/and ACT standard tests. The instructor is Ms. Vicki, who has nearly 20 years of experience as a high school and middle school English teacher. She currently serves as the English Department Chair at Longfellow Middle School and on numerous FCPS Leadership Committees. Working with teachers throughout FCPS on teaching strategies, classroom management, and planning and instruction is one of her favorite things as an educator. She has worked with all age groups in reading and writing on standardized tests SAT, PSAT, AP exams.

Ms. Vicki has extensive experience with the SAT, PSAT and ACT, as well as AP English Language and Literature exams as a grader and test creator, and with college essays. She has also served as a test administrator for TJ tests, AP exams, and SAT/ACT tests.

Ms. Vicki is very student centered and complimented by all her students and peers. She is very excited of delivering the SAT Reading Class to the students

The Advanced Reading and Writing Class focused on preparing students for the SAT/ACT tests through literary exploration and reading.  The skills learned in this class can be applied to not only the SAT/ACT tests, but also to AP exams, writings, and other literary activities. In this class, students explore literature (and other subjects reading, science or history) in a workshop model and through Socratic Seminars. Students will gain a sophisticated understanding for classic and meaningful, relevant literature that is required in SAT and PSAT test.
