EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY: Educating the Whole Person

Oakton Academy & Educational Consulting supports the philosophy of building a rich liberal arts curriculum, providing character education,  creating a vibrant learning and growing environment that nurtures confident girls and boys who will make a positive impact to schools, communities and our society.

Advising/Consultation Services:

  • Young children’s Good Habits’ development, discipline, and training
  • Reading, writing, speaking for (K – 12th Graders)
  • SAT Subject Tests in Math, English, Physics, Biology
  • TJ Admission process and procedures, 1st round, 2nd round, evaluation criteria, appealing process, course selections
  • College Application Information and Consultation (9th – 12th Graders):
    Review and evaluate students’ profile
  • High School curriculum planning, and rigorous course selection
  • Summer academic programs, and leadership development 
  • College application, process, and college admission consultation

Nurture and Inspire Students to:

  • Build a strong character and value system
  • Develop a loving family relationship 
  • Prepare an academic excellence that drives her/him to pursue lifelong learning
  • Develop love for nature and beauty in the world
  • Build a sense of responsibility to people around us – family, friends, school, community

SAT Physics Test Prep (Starting March 13th, 2015)
AP Physics Test Prep (Starting March 14th, 2015)
SAT English Test Prep (Starting March 14th, 2015)
SAT Math II Test Prep (Starting March 14th, 2015)
English Enrichment for 9th and 10th Graders (Session II starts April 11th, 2015)
English Enrichment for 6th and 7th Graders (Session II starts March 1st, 2015)

EDUCATIONAL EVENTS – Spring 2015

March 21st – College Students’ Panel: Q/A to high school students and parents on academics, extra-curriculum, leadership activities, challenges in HS, SAT and college applications. Time/Date will be announced soon
June 20/21/22 – Three-Day College Application Workshop (rising senior students will use the three days to complete the following important steps for college application
Parenting Club – Meet once a month to discuss parenting (younger children and teenagers) issues/topics. The first meeting will be on March 28th from 11 – 12 noon @ Oakton Library. Details will be distributed soon

Educational Consulting Seminar #2

Educating A Whole Person:

Weave a rich liberal arts curriculum, character education, one to one advising ( consulting ) service to create a vibrant environment that nurture confident girls and boys, who will make positive impact to our community and society.

One to one Educational Consulting Service includes:

1. K-3rd Grade’s children: good habits (reading/writing/speaking) development; basic household responsibility and training; class and outside class discipline

2. Advanced Academic Placement preparation, admission appealing process consulting

3. Thomas Jefferson Science and Technology High School Admission Process, rigorous science and math curriculum, TJ SIS essays writing, mentoring and consultation

4. High School students’ time management, course planning, summer internship application, community service, leadership, public speaking and college Admission; college visits and admission interviewing skills 

5. College application preparation and admission consulting; colleges selection and identification; personal essays – reflection, brainstorming, drafting, writing, re-writing. The procedure will train and prepare students to get ready for the complicated college application process and to inspire our students to:

– to build a strong character and value system
